About Japan

Study in Japan, a country comprised of more than three thousand islands in the Pacific Ocean. Four of these, the largest, make up most of the country, and many are volcanic. When you choose to study in Japan, you will also learn about its long and rich history, with evidence of humans first occupying the area dating back to around 30,000 BC. Today, the country’s culture is influenced by those in Asia, North America and Europe. Japan has many traditional crafts, such as origami, and interesting performances including Bunraku, a type of theater involving puppets, all of this you will be able to experience as you study in Japan. Fascinating and complex tea ceremonies are also practiced here.
